The Tornado has a long and interesting history that started in Marysville, WA in 1969. After the building process was finished at Westport Shipyard, she began making trips out of Westport under Ed Besel. She then fished out of Monterey, CA for a number of years before being brought back to her home port of Westport by her new owners. Since 2005, she has undergone extensive amounts of maintenance, repair and refitting to turn her into one of the most well equipped charterboats in her class.

Captain Dwight Sawin was born with an interest in fishing and an affinity for the ocean. He started out as a deckhand at the age of 12 and fell in love with sport fishing in Westport. He now is the proud owner and operator of the Tornado. He loves his boat so much he proposed to his now wife (Cassie Sawin) on it!
Dwight has been running trips for over 10 years out of Westport and it shows. Our first-time customers continually become our long term customers time and time again, choosing us for all their charterfishing trips.
Michael (Mikey) Sawin grew up chasing flopping fish around on the back deck of the Tornado. He has a passion for fishing and basketball. Mikey is currently working towards getting his Associates Degree from Grays Harbor College. When you come out on a trip with us you will see what our commitment to quality is all about! You may not be related to us, but you’ll feel like we are family after one trip.
